So. I just found out that as of March 26, I will no longer be able to use this blog via Blogger. Sigh. At least I have 2 months to figure out what I'm going to do about it. Either a) I can switch URLs to elviskitty.blogspot.com (which I've already claimed) or b) find a new blogging service that offers FTP publishing. For free. Since I *just* renewed the elviskitty domain name, I'm going to try and go with option b. Though that will undoubtedly entail re-writing my design template's code... *insert massive hair-pulling-outage here* We shall see. Oh. And. . . . Still no computer. EDIT 31 Jan - My much more knowledgeable husband will be able to remedy this with a simple redirect. Never mind. I am lame. The peoples hath spoken.
Looking forward to more photos!!! -- February 01, 2010 10:42 AM 28 January 2010

![]() It occurred to me today that I haven't taken a self-portrait yet. As of now, that has been remedied - not only that, but you can see my lovely camera as well. Our relationship is growing stronger every day and we are becoming quite comfy with each other I think :) Labels: 365 The peoples hath spoken.

![]() Wheeee LIGHT TRAILS :) This was so much fun to shoot, sitting in the pitch black of my living room, fiddling with settings, waiting for cars to drive by. This image is actually a composite of three photos layered over one another. Labels: 365 The peoples hath spoken.

![]() This is the book I'm currently reading (for the second time): The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul by Douglas Adams. I've read nearly everything he's written... he's insanely brilliant :) Note: I'm extra proud of this photo - other than a minor brightening tweak, it is straight out of camera. No cropping, sharpening, color curving, nada. YAY Labels: 365 The peoples hath spoken.

![]() Shaking it up a little today with a more abstract-y photo... experimenting with shadow/light, curves/lines/shapes. This was taken in my kitchen - it's the table and a chair. Labels: 365 The peoples hath spoken.
The jolly jumper is a remarkable thing - it makes Buster sleep ***** When the munchkin says "turkey in the straw" it sounds like "chocolate door" ***** Melting snow in Jan.? Wow. Mother Nature must be having a hot flash Labels: haiku The peoples hath spoken.

![]() Mother Nature finally decided to give us poor prairie dwellers a hiatus from killer frigid temperatures... so we all bundled up and hit the slopes with toboggan in tow. And there's nothing like a mug of hot chocolate to warm you up after that kind of adventure :) The peoples hath spoken.

![]() My furry children :) It's rare to ever see them so peaceful in such close proximity... I had to try and capture the moment. Shooting in low light was interesting - I experimented a lot in Manual to try and get a good exposure. I think I succeeded :) The peoples hath spoken.

![]() I de-Christmased the house today :( So sad. Every year since the Boy and I have been together, we get a dated ornament for the tree. This was 2009 - the first Christmas for our littlest boy. Labels: 365 The peoples hath spoken.
auntie j said... And by the way I got that same ornament for Rachel's 1st Christmas too :) Good taste we have! I just noticed too that I'm under "Auntie J" for some reason, I don't know why. But I'll get that changed haha. -- January 01, 2010 9:25 PM Dana said... Looking forward to reading your thoughts and seeing pics! -- January 02, 2010 10:41 AM At long last, I'm back! This little old bloggy o' mine has undergone a complete re-design, and I'm excited to re-launch it today, New Years Day. I've spent the last few weeks working on the template, making tweaks and adjustments, and I must say I'm very happy with how it turned out. It's been a lot of fun... I like doing it more than the actual blogging! HA. So. Last year I posted all of 13 entries. THIRTEEN!!??!? It's shameful. Though in my defense, 2009 was a doozy. An autism diagnosis, unplanned pregnancy, buying/selling houses, moving, and just general craziness as a family of seven (yes, I included the cats...) left little to no time to blog. Or more accurately, no energy or motivation to do so. Same with my photography. This was originally a place to share what floundering creativity I possessed. There were times that I wanted to, but when I would finally get a few moments peace to sit at the computer... I'd just draw a blank. Or, I'd have so many things to say and want to bring peoples up to speed with, that I'd just get overwhelmed and give up. For a while I DID give up on this thing entirely, and when I did I found that I missed it. Blogging takes dedication, and I didn't think I really had it in me to continue. Anyways, I decided that since life ISN'T going to slow down to the pace it was before, and that my life is what it is and I need to adjust my mindset accordingly and get used to it... that I'm going to make time for this silly little thing and start taking pictures again. YAY! Aren't you glad? So. In order to give myself motivation to persevere with my dear elviskitty, I'm assigning myself a project. It's a biggie. I really want to do it. I'm EXCITED!!!! A 365. It's lofty, I know. Not an original idea, but I really feel that I need to push myself to practice photography, and more seriously. Once I get to January 14, I'll have posted more entries in 2010 than in all of last year. HA. Ha ha. REALLY??? 13 measly times?? That is sad. Oh, also, I'm setting a goal to take 2010 photos by December 31. It works out to about 5 1/2 shots a day. I won't post them all - it's an exercise for making a habit of picking up my camera daily and USING IT. And hopefully learning new things, improving my lackluster skills, yadda yadda all that good stuff while I'm at it. Here's to the new year!! May I not fall smack-dab on my butt by Day 2!! YAY The peoples hath spoken.
